American government is the biggest part of the United States citizenship test. Let us start with its foundations, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the ideas the country is built on. 15 real questions answered. These come from the first section of the 2025 civics test, the principles of American government.
They cover what the Constitution is, what it does, and the core ideas behind it. Let us go through all 15. What is the form of government of the United States? A republic, more fully, a constitution-based federal republic.
You can also answer representative democracy. What is the supreme law of the land? The Constitution. Every other law must agree with it.
Name one thing the Constitution does. It forms the government, defines the government's powers, and protects the rights of the people. Any one of those is correct. The Constitution starts with the words, we the people.

There are three branches of government. Why? So that no single part becomes too powerful. This is called checks and balances or separation of powers.
