This is colonial period and independence, the first part of American history on the 2025 civics test. It covers why people came, the revolution, the founding documents, and the founding figures. Let us go through them. The colonists came to America for many reasons.
Name one, freedom, religious freedom, economic opportunity, or to escape persecution. Anyone works. Who lived in America before the Europeans arrived? American Indians, Native Americans.
What group of people was taken and sold as slaves? Africans, people from Africa. What war did the Americans fight to win independence from Britain? The American Revolution, the Revolutionary War.
Name one reason the Americans declared independence. High taxes, taxation without representation, British soldiers staying in their houses, or a lack of self-government. Who wrote the Declaration of Independence, Thomas? When was the Declaration of Independence adopted?
