2. What makes a flush cut a serious pruning error?

3. A branch was cut a hand's width beyond the union, leaving a stub. What follows?

4. A heavy limb is being removed. Why is the first cut made on the underside of the limb, out beyond the final cut?

5. A specification requires reducing a stem back to a live lateral at least one-third the diameter of the stem removed. At the point of reduction the stem measures 6 cm across. Which lateral meets the specification?

6. How does a heading cut differ from a reduction cut?

7. Why does topping leave a tree with an energy deficit?

15. Two codominant stems meet at a union with included bark. Why is that union weak?
