Because a motorcycle is small and easy to miss, sharing the road safely means making yourself visible. Ride in the part of the lane where drivers can see you best, keep your headlight on, wear bright or reflective gear, and use your signals early. Assume other drivers don't see you, watch for cars turning left across your path at intersections, and keep a safe following distance so you always have room and time to react.
