K-12 Tests for Parents
Free state-test practice to do with your child, starting with CAASPP grade 3 math.
California students in grades 3 through 8 take the CAASPP Smarter Balanced tests in English language arts and math each spring. It is not a pass-or-fail exam for the child; the score report shows families and teachers which skills are solid and which need more work.
These practice sets are written for parents to use with their child: short questions at grade level, one topic at a time, and an explanation for every answer that you can read aloud together. Everything is free, with no sign-up, in English, Chinese and Spanish.
What each practice test covers
CAASPP Math Grade 3 Practice Test
240 practice questions across 6 sections: Multiplication & Division, Place Value, Rounding & Adding Within 1000, Fractions, Time, Measurement, Graphs, Area & Perimeter, Shapes & Equal Parts, Word Problems & Reasoning. Every question comes with an explanation. CAASPP has no passing score: results are reported as four achievement levels. Use the 70% practice target only as a sign a topic is solid, and spend extra time on any topic where your child scores below it.
