The CEHRS sits in an odd and useful place: it is a healthcare credential that is almost entirely non-clinical. Read every scenario question by asking whose job the action is. This credential's questions are rarely about whether something is technically possible in the software; they are about whether it is yours to do. A provider asks you to enter an order while they scrub in. A patient messages the portal asking whether their rash is serious. A colleague wants your login because theirs is locked out. A nurse asks you to correct a note that has the wrong laterality. In each case the software would let you, and in each case the correct answer is a different kind of act — do your part, and hand the rest to the person whose role owns it. If you can reliably name the role boundary, a large fraction of the exam becomes straightforward.
Learn the privacy material as principles, never as numbers. The minimum-necessary standard, what makes an authorization valid, the difference between a use and a disclosure, why role-based access exists, and why viewing a record you have technical access to but no business reason to see is still a violation — these are stable, they are what the exam asks, and they are what protects you at work. Studying the path rather than the topic list is what makes those questions feel obvious.

The exam is in English and the systems and regulations you will work with are documented in English, so you have to end up fluent in the terminology — but understanding why minimum necessary exists, or why a duplicate medical record number is dangerous rather than merely untidy, lands faster in a first language and then transfers. You can locate patient education material in the system, print it and document that it was provided; interpreting it for this patient's condition belongs to the licensed clinician. You can help a patient use the portal and grant them access; the clinical question they typed into it goes to the care team.
